Success of High School Students in Science Olympics

Students that are prepared by TÜBİTAK for International Science Olympics, represented Turkey successfully in various Olympics organized in Iran, Czechia-Slovakia and Italy. This year the olympics was organized as follows: 29th International Biology Olympiad in Iran, the 50th International Chemistry Olympiad in Czechia and Slovakia, and the 5th Mediterranean Mathematics Olympiad in Italy.

At the 29th International Biology Olympiad in Tehran, the capital of Iran, 71 countries and 261 participants competed. İsmail Hakkı Dur from Erzurum İbrahim Hakkı Science High School (gold), Fatih İbrahim Özlügedik from Pursaklar Science High School (silver), Muhammet Üsame Avcı from Şanlıurfa Saraç İlgi Schools (bronze) and Birnur Sinem Karaoğlan from Ankara Science High School (bronze) won medals.

82 countries and 324 competitors participated in the 50th International Chemistry Olympiad organized in Czechia and Slovakia. Ceylan Ceylan from İzmir Science High School won gold medal. Batuhan Apa from Istanbul Atatürk Science High School, Yusha Can Dinç from Tekirdağ Ebru Nayim Science High School and Emre Kılıç from Istanbul Ihlas Marmara Evleri Science High School won bronze medals and returned to the country.

Turkey attended for the first time to the 5. Mediterranean Mathematics Olympiad held in Rome, Italy's capital city. The Turkish team, consisting of İlker Can Çiçek ve Mehmed Selahaddin Şentop and from Istanbul High School, İrem Nur Çevikcan from İzmir-Buca İnci Özer Tırnaklı Science High School and Aybeniz Yağmur Temirtaş from İstanbul Bahçeşehir Private Science and Technology High School competed in the Olympiad.

 

The Turkish team won bronze medal for the 3rd place in the 5. Mediterranean Mathematics Olympiad.
