Türkiye's Largest Food Innovation Center and Türkiye's Food Innovation Platform (TÜGİP) are Opening

TÜBİTAK is taking another important step in the field of food. The Food Innovation Center and the Turkish Food Innovation Platform – TÜGİP, established within the scope of Türkiye’s largest food R&D and Innovation Project INNOFOOD, are opening. The goal is to increase the competitiveness of the food industry based on innovation on a regional and international scale.

TÜGİP will open with a ceremony on July 6 at 14.00. The opening will be held with the participation of Minister of Industry and Technology Mustafa Varank, Head of EU Delegation to Türkiye Ambassador Nikolaus Meyer-Landrut and President of TÜBİTAK Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal.

Türkiye’s most comprehensive R&D studies will be carried out.

The center will meet the infrastructure needs of the food industry in order to carry out result-oriented R&D and innovation studies together. The "Food Innovation Center" was established in Gebze in a 5 thousand 800 square meter closed area under the TÜBİTAK MAM Life Sciences Food Research Vice Presidency. The center provides the most comprehensive R&D studies in Türkiye with its 9 pilot-scale processing lines for the R&D and innovation studies required by the food industry, and research laboratories where very different advanced food safety analyzes can be made.

The Food Innovation Center has pilot processing facilities in 9 product categories, equipped with 200 machines and equipment. The Food Innovation Center consistsed of; Pomegranate and Fruit Juice Processing Line, Hazelnut Products Processing Line, Minimally Processed Foods Line, Fermented Fruit Products Line, Herbal Extraction and Tea Processing Line, Ready Meal Processing Line, Seafood Processing Line and  Starter Culture Processing Line and Dairy Products Processing Lines. The center also has 84 modern laboratory devices using advanced technology, with which various food analyzes can be made.

The center will also be used as an incubation center for our entrepreneurs in the food industry.

Türkiye Food Innovation Platform TÜGİP is a platform that covers all stakeholders in the food and beverage industry in our country, a communication network and clustering platform that provides holistic solutions with a single source approach for companies to implement their products and ideas, reduce innovation and R&D costs, and benefit from the power of cooperation.

Greater goals will come true

Within the scope of the INNOFOOD Project, TÜBİTAK MAM Life Sciences Vice Presidency offers qualified knowledge, experience and human resources in the field of food science and technology to the service of the sector, paving the way for our R&D and innovation ecosystem in the food sector to achieve greater goals for a sustainable future. The INNOFOOD Project is carried out within the scope of the Competitive Sectors Program with the co-financing of the European Union and the Republic of Türkiye, with the support of the Ministry of Industry and Technology.
