In line with our vision of being among the leading countries in the world with its scientific studies on polar sciences, Turkish scientific expeditions to the polar regions (Arctic and Antarctica) are organized regularly every year under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye and under the coordination of TÜBİTAK MAM Polar Research Institute (PRI). With the expeditions it is aimed to enable our scientists to conduct original, sustainable, and high-quality scientific studies on polar sciences, to ensure cooperation with scientists from other countries, and to make our country one of the respected countries with a say in the polar regions.
In accordance with these purposes; the 2024 calls for KUTUP (POLAR)-1001 and KUTUP (POLAR) Foreign Research Base Participation Projects, which will support scientific studies related to the "Polar Regions", were opened on July 24, 2023, within the framework of the conditions determined by TÜBİTAK-MAM PRI and TÜBİTAK-ARDEB. Within the scope of calls; the upper limit of total project budget has been increased to 900,000 TL, including 600,000 TL for the "Scientific Research Budget" and 300,000 TL for the "Logistics Budget" (only for projects that will participate in the expeditions), and the amount of Project Incentive Bonus (PTI) has been updated as 100,000 TL.
