Historic Victory in Mathematical Olympiads

Six students representing Türkiye in the 27th Junior Balkan Mathematical Olympiad, organized in Tirana, the capital of Albania, where 98 students from 18 countries competed, achieved a historic success by winning 3 Gold and 3 Silver medals. With these results, Türkiye ranked first in the country rankings.

Minister of Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır stated that young people who produce and develop science and technology are their most important companions, and said that in the last 20 years, TÜBİTAK Scientist Support has increased 85 times in real terms.

Young scientists representing Türkiye in the international arena within the scope of the 2202 Science Olympiads program carried out under TÜBİTAK BİDEB proudly waved our flag at the Olympiad and put Türkiye's name at the top of the list. Students Mustafa Dortluoğlu, Can Erturan and Ege Akgün won Gold Medals, while Tuğra Özbey Eratlı, Oğuz Fatih Tepe and Umut Kağan Yazgan won Silver Medals.

Scientific Supports Increased 85 Times in the Last 20 Years

Minister Mehmet Fatih Kacır congratulated the historical victory of young people and said, "These degrees obtained by our young people, the bright stars of science, have once again proved the power of our country in the world of science. For a Türkiye that produces and develops science and technology and builds our competitiveness in the international arena, our youth are our most important companions and colleagues. In the last 20 years, TÜBİTAK Scientist Support has increased 85 times in real terms. The number of people we support increased 53 times.

These supports make significant contributions to the development of our R&D human resources. In addition to our increasing success, we also host international science olympiads in our country. We organized the 52nd International Chemistry Olympiad in 2020, the 2nd The European Girls' Olympiad in Informatics in 2022, the 40th Balkan Mathematical Olympiad in 2023, and we will host the 28th Junior Balkan Mathematical Olympiad in 2024. I would like to thank all our students who participated in the Olympiads, their families, teachers, all academicians who took part in the trainings, especially our Committee Chairman, and everyone who contributed."

TÜBİTAK President Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal reminded TÜBİTAK's responsibility to develop human resources for a fully independent Türkiye and said: "We congratulate our students who represented our country at the 27th Junior Balkan Mathematical Olympiad.
