TÜRKSAT Near-Earth Orbit and CubeSat Workshop, with TÜBİTAK as a gold sponsor, started with the opening ceremony held at ATO Congresium.

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, during his opening speech, stated that the production of the first domestic and national communication satellite of Türkiye, namely TÜRKSAT 6A, has commenced at the Space Systems Integration and Test Center (USET) as a collaborative endeavor of TÜRKSAT, TÜBİTAK Uzay, TUSAŞ, Aselsan and CTECH companies. "Now similar to TÜRKSAT 6A, with this workshop, we have brought together the leaders of the industry in near-earth orbit and CubeSats. Thus, we have taken the first and the most important step of collaboration in the production and launch of low-earth orbit satellites into space."

"TÜRKSAT 6A will be launched in June 2024"

Stating that Türkiye has significantly increased its satellite communication capability by sending TÜRKSAT 5A and TÜRKSAT 5B satellites into space in the same year, Uraloğlu said, "Now, with our first national communication satellite, TÜRKSAT 6A, we have gained deeper technical expertise and know-how in the field of space and satellite technologies. We are making a revolution. TÜRKSAT 6A has successfully passed many challenging tests and we will complete its on-ground delivery by March 2024. After this stage, we aim to launch it into orbit in June, in line with the agreement with SpaceX."
Pointing out the fact that the presence of Türkiye in satellite technologies extends beyond the family of TÜRKSAT satellites, Uraloğlu said that the Göktürk observation satellites launched in 2012 and 2016, the cube satellites developed by stakeholders in the university and defense industry, and the low-earth orbit constellation projects launched in recent years show the competitive position of Türkiye in this field.

A spacecraft that will make a hard landing was exhibited

TÜBİTAK, as a gold sponsor of the event, became the center of attention with its stand at the TÜRKSAT Near-earth Orbit and CubeSat Workshop held at ATO Congresium.
The spacecraft developed by TÜBİTAK UZAY within the scope of the Lunar Research Program Project (AYAP), whose design and production processes are still ongoing, was showcased for the first time in Türkiye.

At TÜBİTAK's stand, BİLGEM's National Combat Aircraft (KAAN) Project Mission Computer Mock-Up Device MMU IPU, encrypted USB device SIR – 2, "Friend or Foe Identification System IFF", AGC that enables tactical field IP networks in different locations to communicate securely over insecure networks. -T and AGC-G products were exhibited.

Marmara Research Center (MAM) exhibited Carbon/Ceramic matrix Nozzle, Metal Foam, Space Qualified Solar Panel, Single Crystal Turbine Blade and Gas Turbine Blade.

TÜBİTAK Defense Industry Research and Development Institute (SAGE) took its place at the stand with its Detonation Engine, Explorer, Thermal Battery and Optical products.

TÜBİTAK The National Metrology Institute (UME) showcased the Rubidium-Based Atomic Clock, Fluxgate Magnetometer, and Magnetic Torque Rod.

TÜBİTAK Space Technologies Research Institute (UZAY) took its place at the stand with TÜRKSAT 6A - Medium-Sized Satellite Model, İMECE Satellite Model, GPS Receiver Antenna Produced for İMECE and Directional Antenna Equipment.

In the two-day workshop, leading organizations of the satellite and defense industry came together. Within the scope of the workshop, the concept of "New Space", especially CubeSat production and ground segment technologies, were discussed in dedicated sessions.
