TÜBİTAK Calls are Launched Within the Scope of the World Bank Türkiye Green Industry Project

Within the scope of the World Bank Türkiye Green Industry Project, coordinated by the Ministry of Industry and Technology, the product or process development activities of the private sector for green transformation will be supported by TÜBİTAK-TEYDEB. For this purpose, the Reimbursable and Grant Support Program for Industrial R&D Projects coded 1801 is implemented. With the 1801 program, in addition to TÜBİTAK grant support, a reimbursable support mechanism will also be implemented. Türkiye Green Industry Project will last for 6 years, and different types of calls will be opened by TÜBİTAK.

As of December 8, 2023, 2 new calls with codes 1832 and 1833 have been launched and a declaration of intent has started to be received for the call with the code 1831, which will be opened soon. Summary information about the calls is presented below:

1833 - SAYEM Green Transformation Call: Within the scope of the World Bank Türkiye Green Industry Project, the support period will be applied as a maximum of 36 months and the consortium budget will be applied as a maximum of 300.000.000 TL in the SAYEM Green Transformation call. Consortiums should consist of a Large or Medium-Sized Leading Company with management experience at the centre, at least one R&D/Design Centre, one SME and one institution (universities, research centres and institutes, research infrastructures). It is expected to create wide platform structures focused on co-creation, with the participation of private sector and research organizations that will contribute to the product or product group targeted to be developed Within the scope of the call, 100% grant support will be provided to research institutions (Higher Education Institutions, Public Institutions, Public Research Centres and Institutes, research infrastructures qualified within the scope of Law No. 6550). Interest-free reimbursable support will be provided to private sector companies, with a maximum of 50% to be repaid. The support rate is 70% for large-scale companies, 80% for SMEs, and 90% for SMEs in earthquake zones, respectively. A part of the support to be reimbursed can be converted into grant support. The repayment of the support to be used will start 1 year after the project ends.

1832 - Call for Green Transformation in Industry: Within the scope of this call, the pre-commercialization activities of the prototypes obtained through previous R&D studies for the green transformation activities of the companies will be supported. These studies may be a continuation of R&D projects previously supported by TÜBİTAK-TEYDEB. R&D studies carried out by KOSGEB projects or other national or international funds and companies' own resources, which have not yet been commercialized, are also within the scope of the call. Applications from SMEs and large-scale organizations are eligible, and joint applications can also be made. Prototype development or improvement, validation and certification tests, on-site implementation, scaling, demonstration and field trials covering the TRL 5-9 range are within the scope of the call. Support period is up to 24 months, the upper limit of the project budget is 7.500.000 TL for micro/small-scale companies, 12.000.000 TL for medium-sized companies, and 22.500.000 TL for large-scale companies. Within the scope of the call, interest-free reimbursable support will be provided to capital companies, with a maximum of 50% to be repaid. The support rate is 70% for large-scale companies, 80% for SMEs, and 90% for SMEs in earthquake zones, respectively. A part of the support to be reimbursed can be converted into grant support. The repayment of the support to be used will start 1 year after the project ends.

Within the scope of the World Bank project, TÜBİTAK plans to open 3 new calls with the code 1832 and 2 new SAYEM calls with the code 1833 in different cooperation structures in 2024.

1831 - Green Innovation Technology Mentoring Program - Statement of Intent: This call covers the technical assistance services that SMEs will receive to meet the requirements of adaptation to the green transformation.  For up-to-date green technologies, 90% of the services that companies will receive from expert organizations accredited by TÜBİTAK on issues such as technology consultancy, capacity or situation analysis, identification of existing problems and solution approaches and development of roadmap will be covered by TÜBİTAK as grant support. The support period is 6 months, and the upper limit of the project budget is 210.000 TL. TÜBİTAK will ensure that this service for SMEs is provided through its Solution Partners. First of all, a declaration of intent is obtained for solution partner organizations that intend to serve within the scope of the Green Transformation Technology Mentoring Call. After these organizations are evaluated by TÜBİTAK, the eligible organizations will be able to take part as service provider organizations within the scope of the call to be opened by signing a contract between TÜBİTAK.

The call with the code 1831, which will be opened at the beginning of 2024, is planned to be open continuously.
