The Global Cleantech Innovation Programme (GCIP), supported by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the Global Environment Facility, supports next-generation clean technology innovators who will provide sustainable solutions for combating climate change, ensuring a just energy transition, and achieving low-carbon sustainable development.
The SME Support Program for 1707 Order Based R&D Projects with GCIP Partners aims to transform solution proposals, designed to meet the needs of Customer Organizations, into R&D activities by SMEs accepted into the GCIP Turkey Accelerator program, and to achieve commercializable outputs. Through co-financing, TÜBİTAK, the Customer Organization, and UNIDO will enable SMEs to carry out demand-driven R&D activities in this important process.
SMEs are delivering innovative products and processes with ready customers. The program provides a basis for sharing financial risks among industrial organizations and for reaching agreements on intellectual property rights. It also allows organizations with relatively more project management experience to transfer their know-how to SMEs.

The 2024 Call of the European Partnership Animal Health and Welfare (EUPAHW), which is supported under the Horizon Europe Programme, has been published.
Call Scope:
This call aims to enhance animal health and welfare by supporting innovative research to develop novel and improved technologies and addressing fundamental and socioeconomic science questions related to the prevention, detection, assessment, and management of animal health and welfare issues of both terrestrial and aquatic animals.
Topic 1: Novel Technologies for Prevention, Detection, Assessment, and Management of Animal Health and Welfare
Topic 2: Fundamental Research for Animal Health and Welfare
This topic involves research to advance scientific knowledge and understanding of the biological, immunological, and physiological mechanisms influencing terrestrial and aquatic AH&W.
Examples include increasing knowledge of priority pathogens (bacteria, parasites, viruses, fungi, or prions responsible for important economic losses or high risk for transmission to humans), interactions with the host microbiome, diagnostics, immunology, and the basis of welfare indicators such as normal behaviour, positive emotional state, thermal comfort, ease of movement, absence of disease.
Topic 3: Animal Health and Welfare and Society
This topic covers social, economic, or ethical studies that examine how pathogens, novel technologies or improved animal welfare might impact farmers, fishers, aquaculture producers, consumers, or the production chain. It would also cover studies focusing on human behaviour with respect to biosecurity, perception of welfare and impacts on demand, and communications with farmers and producers to improve awareness and acknowledgement of AH&W (i.e. to improve acceptability of policy, to facilitate a transition to sustainable production).
Collaborative research between academic and private sectors can provide benefits for AH&W, Therefore, this call encourages applications that may include partners from the private sector, where appropriate, and within national and regional regulations, as per Annex VII.
Exclusions: The research funded through this call is to improve AH&W. The focus of each research proposal should therefore be on animal health/disease and welfare. Research that mainly focuses on the following, is not in the scope of the call:
A webinar for applicants will take place on 14th of May 2024 from 10:00-12:00 (CEST). Please find below the contact data for the webinar:

In the 1812 Investment-Based Entrepreneurship Support Program (BiGG Investment), Phase 1—where entrepreneurs present their business ideas, the initial evaluations are conducted, and the acceleration program is implemented—is carried out by Implementing Organizations. In this context, a new call has been announced under the 1601 – Capacity Building Support Program in the Fields of Innovation and Entrepreneurship to determine the Implementing Organizations that will run Phase 1 activities for the 2026-2028 period.
Implementing Organizations that will take part in the Acceleration Program determined by this call are expected to open an acceleration program for entrepreneurs for all calls to be opened within the scope of the BiGG Investment Program, to receive and evaluate business idea applications from entrepreneurs, and to provide an acceleration program for business ideas that have the potential to turn into a successful enterprise.
The framework of the acceleration programs to be conducted by the Implementing Organizations is defined in the BiGG Investment Acceleration Program Phase (Phase 1) Implementing Organization Guideline. As a result of this call, Implementing Organizations are expected to carry out acceleration programs with original, effective, and applicable mechanisms that will transform entrepreneurs’ business ideas into qualified business plans in line with the framework outlined in the Guideline.

It is expected from the call that cooperation between industrial organizations will increase and R&D outputs will turn into commercial products more quickly. It is also thought that the call will encourage the emergence of spin-off companies within the Customer Organization. It is anticipated that the call will increase the effectiveness of the national innovation system in terms of directly contributing to the processes of sharing, disseminating and productizing information.
There is a condition that a Customer Organization and at least one Supplier Organization jointly apply to the call and the Supplier Organization must be SME scale. Application and support processes will be carried out between TÜBİTAK and the Customer Organization. R&D projects with high commercialization potential can be supported from all sectors and all technology fields. Project proposals need to cover the work to be done by the Supplier Organization and market research and economic feasibility review are of utmost importance.
