The Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) was established in 1985 on the legal basis of the Regional Cooperation for Development Organization, established in 1964 by Türkiye, Iran, and Pakistan to develop regional economic cooperation. Türkiye has been a member of the organization since its establishment (https://www.mfa.gov.tr/ekonomik-isbirligi-teskilati-_eit_.tr.mfa).

The organization aims to contribute to the development of member countries, remove trade barriers within the ECO region, develop intra-regional trade, encourage the integration of the ECO region with global markets, and strengthen cultural and historical ties between member countries.

With its geographical location, level of development, and well-established state structure, our country is a founder of the ECO and is in a leading position within it. In addition, it has an important position in the development and facilitation of trade within the organization and in the development of transportation lines that will enable landlocked Central Asian countries to open up to the world's leading trade centers.

As TÜBİTAK, we support ECO's requests for cooperation in science and technology and share announcements about ECO's activities through our official website.
