A sapling planting event was held with the participation of TÜBİTAK President Prof. Hasan Mandal.

TÜBİTAK took a new step in the fight against climate change on March 8, International Women's Day, and took the sapling donation event, which has become traditional every March 8, one step further, and a sapling planting event was organized for its female employees at the Gebze Campus.

TÜBİTAK President Prof. Dr. TÜBİTAK employees together with Hasan Mandal experienced the excitement of planting saplings in the Gebze campus. Approximately 300 olive saplings were planted in the land next to the TÜBİTAK Science High School Pond.

TÜBİTAK President Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal thanked female employees for their efforts and underlined that every success of TÜBİTAK is due to the great efforts of female employees.

Mandal said, “Together, we will be proud of creating a memory forest on behalf of our female employees. Fighting climate change and providing a greener future for future generations “I hope that our sapling planting activity, which is an important step within the scope of our goals of leaving the world, will continue.” made his assessment.

Recalling the fire that occurred in the maquis area at TÜBİTAK Gebze Campus, Mandal said, “Unfortunately, the fire occurred, and we lost a maquis area for that period. "Now we are equipping our campus with olive trees, and we wanted to do this on a meaningful day," he said.

Prof. Dr. Mandal said, “Every year, as TÜBİTAK, we would donate a sapling for each of our women on March 8, women's day, to our General Directorate of Forestry. But because of the experience we had this year, we wanted to have our own nursery to make it more meaningful. We want to make this a tradition, too. "I hope March 8 Women's Day will be auspicious again." " he spoke.

“The efforts and contributions of our female employees at TÜBİTAK are very valuable”.

“Women have a very different meaning for an institution like TÜBİTAK.” emphasizing Mandal said, “Because TÜBİTAK is our country's flagship guide in science and technology, and if we are talking about fires, floods, and disasters today, we believe that the solution for all of these will be with science and technology. The efforts and contributions of our female employees at TÜBİTAK, the most important flagship of science and technology, are very valuable. Whether it is a researcher, support staff, administrative staff, or a servant. I would like to thank all of them from the bottom of my heart for being employees of this institution, which has a population of approximately 6,300 people, who devote their time, day and night to this work and say that they are here to develop the knowledge and technology that our country and humanity need.” said.

TÜBİTAK President said, “When we look at the coming years, the headlines focused on climate change, food supply security, water supply security and some of the problems and difficulties that may be experienced in society are the key words to overcome all of these. The concept is science and technology, and TÜBİTAK will continue to contribute, produce, and develop it. “The role of our women is very important in this process.” she said.

“We aim to increase the number of female employees and managers at TÜBİTAK”.

“Our female employees constitute 32 percent of our approximately 6,300 personnel working in our Presidency and Institutes, and more than 50 percent of our personnel in our Presidency units. Our goal is to increase this number even further, but we are trying to increase the number of our female researchers and female employees, not only as employees, but especially in managerial positions at decision-making points.” Mandal said, “Again, as the most important institution supporting science, technology and innovation in our country in terms of our support programs, we now have at least one female researcher and scientist in both our Group Executive Boards and Advisory Boards. We are sure that this will increase even more in the coming years. I am grateful again for what they offer to all our women. I sincerely thank them for their efforts and contributions, and I hope that the initiative we have initiated today will be beneficial to our institution, our country and humanity.” made his evaluations.
