2221 - Fellowships for Visiting Scientists and Scientists on Sabbatical Leave

By encouraging scientists, especially Turkish scientists, who are pioneers in their fields working in the universities or research institutions abroad, to come to Türkiye,

And to provide support for the realization of all kinds of academic and R&D activities such as conducting research, working in the laboratory, product development, organizing conferences/ congresses, giving seminars, providing part-time education, and writing a joint project.

Two types of visit are supported within this program:

• The short-term invitation period is between 7 days to 3 months for visiting scientists.

• The long-term invitation period is between 3 - 12 months for the visiting scientists or the scientists who will come with academic leave (sabbatical leave).

A monthly stipend payment for Visiting Scientists is maximum 54.000 TL/month
A monthly stipend payment for Visiting Scientists on Sabbatical Leave is maximum 60.000 TL/month

• Fellows can be citizen of any country.

• Fellows should have a PhD degree (or equivalent) and have at least four years of research experience, which can be universities, research institutions, or private sector as of the date of application.

• Fellows should be invited by a hosting institution in Türkiye, which can be universities, public institution, and organization

• Fellows on Sabbatical leave should be invited for duration of at least 3 months and max. 12 months

• Visiting scientists should be invited at least 7 days and max. 12 months.

• The fellow/scientist on academic leave to be invited must be working abroad in a job related to his/her doctorate degree as of the day of application to the program,

• The fellow/academic leave scientist who has completed his/her doctorate and is working in a job abroad that requires a doctorate degree must have been working in a university, research center or private sector for at least 4 years as of the date of application.

Applications should be submitted by host scientist/institution.

Applications are made online through the TÜBİTAK Yönetim Bilgi Sistemi (TYBS) within the application dates. Application documents must be uploaded online to the system.

Applications are accepted for the program 6 times a year.
