In 2024, awards will be given in four categories as TÜBİTAK Science, Special, Service and Incentive Awards by The Scientific And Technological Research Council of Türkiye.

TÜBİTAK Science Award: It is awarded to living scientists who have made significant contributions to science at the international level with their studies in Türkiye.

TÜBİTAK Speacial Award: As an equivalent of the Science Award, it is given to living scientists who are citizens of the Republic of Türkiye and have contributed to science at the international level with their studies abroad.

TÜBİTAK Service Award: It is awarded to people who have made outstanding services to the development of science and technology in Türkiye. Deceased scientists may also be nominated for the Service Award.

TÜBİTAK Incentive Award: It is given to scientists residing in Türkiye who have proven through their studies that they have the qualifications to make significant contributions to science at the international level in the future. The candidate should be under the age of 40 on the first day of the year when the award is given. Application and Evaluation Process

Candidates for the Incentive Award can apply personally or be nominated. Individual applications cannot be made for the Science, Special and Service Awards, a nomination is required.

The following institutions or individuals can nominate to TÜBİTAK Science, Special, Service and Incentive Awards 

  • Those who have received TÜBİTAK Science, Special, Service Award or TÜBİTAK-TWAS Science Award in the past

  • Council of Higher Education

  • Türkiye Academy Of Sciences

  • Senates or Boards of Directors of Universities

  • The highest decision-making bodies of public and private sector institutions and organizations operating in scientific and technological fields

  • TÜBİTAK R&D and R&D Facility Units Boards of Directors and TÜBİTAK Research Groups Executive Committees (in their fields of activity). 

 

Applications for TÜBİTAK Science, Special, Service and Incentive Awards are made through the Awards Application System, which can be accessed at https://oduller.tubitak.gov.tr The candidate who will apply for the award and the nominating person or the highest official of the institution/organization must have a current registration in ARBİS, otherwise they must complete a "New User Registration". 

 

The requested documents must be completely uploaded to the Application System. 

 

After the application phase is completed, the "Acceptance Commitment and Declaration Form" must be signed with an e-signature by the candidate and the person nominating the candidate or the highest authorized manager of the nominating institution/organization. Candidates who are abroad and cannot use e-signature during the application can sign the printout of the application form and send the scanned version of the relevant form first by e-mail and then by mail or courier to our contact address below. 

 

The nominator must add the type of award which has previously received from TÜBİTAK and the year of receiving the award to the relevant tab in the application system. If the nominator is the university senate/board of directors, the rector's signature must be present in the application system. If the vice rector has been given power of attorney regarding the work and transactions related to TÜBİTAK Award applications, or if the vice rector is deputizing the rector at the time the application is made, the relevant power of attorney document must be uploaded to the system.

 

Only one of the Science, Special, Service and Incentive Award categories can be applied in the same period.

 

Applications can be made maximum 3 times for each type of award: Science, Special, Service and Incentive Awards. Applications made before 2010 are not included in this number.

 

Candidates born in 1983 or before cannot apply for the Incentive Award.

 

Scientists who won the TÜBA-GEBİP Award in 2021, 2022 and 2023 can apply for the 2024 TÜBİTAK Incentive Award even if they are over 40 years old.

 

For female applicants, one year is added to the age limit of 40 for each birth.

 

Those who applied for the TÜBA GEBİP - Outstanding Young Scientist Awards (GEBİP) and the TÜBA International Academy Awards in 2024 cannot apply for the TÜBİTAK Science, Special, Service and Incentive Awards in 2024.

 

For Science, Special and Incentive Awards; Candidates are expected to explain their reasons for deserving the award in a maximum of 750 words and to support this explanation with publications to which primary contributions have been made. A copy of the 5 publications specified in the "Publications Selected Within the Framework of Reason" heading should be uploaded to the "Additional Files". The candidate's contributions to these 5 publications and the candidate’s contribution to these publications should be explained in a maximum of 250 words. If the candidate has contributed to more than one subject, all but the most significant contribution should be separated by subject. A copy of each of the maximum 15 publications under the heading "Other Scientific Publications within the Framework of Justification" should be uploaded to the "Additional Files" and a description text not exceeding 500 words should be added.

 

Publications that constitute a primary contribution to a candidate's application (The 5 Publications Selected Within the Framework of the Reason) cannot be used in another candidate's application for the same type of award. TÜBİTAK has the right to investigate the statement for publications declared to have made primary contributions. Although it is declared that the candidate has made a primary contribution to the relevant publication, if it is determined that the candidate has not made a primary contribution to any of these publications, the application will not be evaluated. In addition, “The 5 Publications Selected Within the Framework of the Reason” must be independent of the candidate's doctorate study.

 

For the Service Award; applications must include the reasons why candidates deserve the award and the relevant document supporting these reasons, if any. In the justification; It should be explained in a maximum of 750 words within the scope of the following subjects;

 

  • To train scientists

  • To work for the institutionalization of the branch of science in which the candidate belongs to

  • How the candidate has provided superior service to the development of science and technology in Türkiye, 

  • Establishing or significantly contributing to the establishment of scientific institutions and organizations.

TÜBİTAK Science, Special and Service Awards are given in the fields of Basic Sciences, Engineering Sciences, Health Sciences, Social and Human Sciences. The Incentive Award is given in the fields of Basic Sciences, Engineering Sciences, Health Sciences, Social and Human Sciences, Polar Studies. 

The number of Science Awards cannot exceed eight, the number of Special Awards cannot exceed four, the number of Service Awards cannot exceed four, and the number of Incentive Awards cannot exceed twenty.

Plaques and certificates are given according to the type of the awards. Science, Special and Incentive Awards include in-kind or cash awards determined by the TÜBİTAK Board of Directors each year. To be used in their domestic research, Science and Incentive Award winners are also given research support in an amount determined by the Board of Directors each year (1,650,000TL for 2024).

All evaluations and opinions formed during the award evaluation process, as well as the names of the referees/advisors whose evaluations were consulted and the opinions given by them, are confidential and are outside the scope of the right to information in accordance with the first paragraph of Article 26 of Law No. 4982.

Applications will be accepted until 07 July 2024, at 17.00 (UTC+3).

The winners of the Science, Special, Service and Incentive Awards are announced in the same year and the awards are given to their winners at a ceremony.

Ön Ödeme

Program kapsamında desteklerin harcama sonrası yapılması esas olmakla birlikte; TTO, TGB ve AA’nın talep etmesi durumunda ilgili kuruluşun fona taahhüt ettiği tutarın  %20’sini geçmeyecek şekilde teminat karşılığı ön ödeme yapılabilir. 

Teminat olarak, talep edilen ön ödemenin %25 fazlası kadar bankalar ve finans kurumları tarafından düzenlenmiş süresiz teminat mektubu getirilir.

TÜBİTAK 1071 destek programı kapsamında desteklenen projelerde ‘Proje Teşvik ve Destekleme Esaslarına İlişkin Yönetmelik Uyarınca Desteklenen Projelerde Uygulanacak Fikri Haklar Esasları’ hükümleri uygulanır.

 

Yetişkin Kitaplığı

Bu kategorideki kitaplar; bilimsel derinlik içeren, hayatı görme ve anlama şeklimizi değiştirme gücüne sahip, özenle seçilmiş, açık, anlaşılır, eğitici, ilham verici kitaplardan oluşur. Düşünmeye, yaşam boyu öğrenmeye, keşfetmeye ve gelişmeye teşvik eder. 

Burs Miktarı ve Ödeme Koşulları

Bu program kapsamında doktora öğrencilerine burs ve yol desteği verilir. Burs ödemeleri bursiyerin yurt dışındaki eğitimi süresince üçer aylık dönemler halinde peşin ödenebilir. Bursun parçalı kullanılması durumunda burs ödemesi hesaplarında bir ay 30 gün kabul edilerek burs tutarı hesaplanır. Bursiyerlerin yurt dışına gidiş-dönüş biletleri TÜBİTAK’ın ilgili birimi tarafından temin edilir.

TÜBİTAK ve AFAD arasında imzalanan iş birliği protokolü çerçevesinde açılan “1001-UDAP Ulusal Deprem Araştırmaları Programı Ortak Çağrısı”na sunulan projelerin bilimsel değerlendirme süreci tamamlanmıştır.

Panel değerlendirme süreci olumlu sonuçlanan projelerin yürütücüleri ve bağlı bulundukları kurumlara ilişkin veriler aşağıda sunulmuştur.

EU-LAC İlgi Grubu Ortak Çağrılarının Kapsamı

EU-LAC İlgi Grubu ortak çağrıları, katılımcı ülkelerin ulusal fon kuruluşları tarafından desteklenir ve bu kuruluşlar yalnızca kendi ülkelerindeki ortaklara fon sağlar.

The 2024 Call of the Chips Joint Undertaking (JU), which is supported under the Horizon Europe Programme, has been published.

Call Scope:

In 2024, the Chips JU will launch three calls for proposals for the non-initiative part of the programme:

  • A first call for Innovation Actions (higher TRLs) and will consist of a global topic and 2 focus topics and run in 2 phases

  • A second call for Research and Innovation Actions (lower TRLs) and will consist of a global topic and run in 2 phases.

  • A third call will include one topic for Research and Innovation Actions (RIA) that will be implemented as one phase call without national contribution but in cooperation with South Korea (ROK).

The international consortium that will present the project should consist of 3 different institutions from at least 3 different countries. The Joint Program for Neurodegenerative Disease Research (JPND) is a structure that organizes and manages a series of research programs active in the field of neurodegenerative disease research in Europe. Within the scope of the initiative in question, calls for projects are being opened to make neurodegenerative potential research more efficient and to increase the treatment capability.

TÜBİTAK application deadline for full proposals will be announced for our researchers who are successful in the second stage international scientific evaluation process.

Within the scope of the JPND 2025 Call, proposals submitted to this call must focus on one or several of the following neurodegenerative diseases: Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias, Parkinson’s disease and PD‐related disorders , Prion diseases, Motor neuron diseases, Huntington’s disease, Spinocerebellar ataxia (SCA), Spinal muscular atrophy (SMA). Proposals submitted under this call may include, but are not limited to, the following types of research:

  • Deciphering the interplay of physical health, biological, environmental, social and economic factors in determining cognitive decline and behavioral and psychological symptoms;

  • Investigating the specific or changing needs in regard to different subtypes of neurodegenerative diseases (e.g., different types of dementia), disease trajectories and treatment regimens (e.g., drug-treatment vs. non-drug treatment);

  • Identifying transition points of deterioration that occur throughout the disease progression and establishing measures for effective interventions and prevention;

  • Development of guidelines and harmonization of standardized operation procedures for the use of socio-cognitive testing across regions and countries in Europe or beyond;

  • Development of measures for rehabilitation and reablement and effective support from the perspective of patients and family caregivers to establish person-centered and public health approaches;

  • Establishing effective models of care by studying quality of care (e.g., in nursing homes) or the effects of prevention or delay of admission to a nursing home;

  • Identifying suitable housing at different stages of the disease progression, from adapted housing solutions to nursing homes and dementia villages;

  • Identification and implementation of new digital measurement tools and socio-cognitive digital markers with cross-cultural validation based on patient-reported outcome measures;

  • Identifying and addressing known barriers to e.g., improve the accessibility of services, the development of advanced care planning, the interaction between social and care services as well as between persons with dementia and their immediate environment and the public (stigmatization);

  • Consideration of ethical issues; 

  • Unraveling regional differences in the effectiveness and impact of health and social care interventions and developing strategies for evidence-based adaptation and implementation in e.g., different settings, regions and systems. 

Projects to be submitted to the call must meet the following criteria:

  • Each proposal must involve a minimum of three and a maximum of six regular partners, including the coordinator, from at least three different countries participating in this call. However, if the proposal involves at least one regular partner from an EU-13 country (Hungary, Latvia and Poland) or from Turkey, the maximum number of regular partners is extended to seven. 

  • For reasons of transnational balance, no more than two regular partners from the same country are allowed to join a proposal.

  • In addition, external collaborators (e.g., research groups from countries not participating in this call) may participate in proposals. External collaborators must secure their own funding. They must state in the proposal if these funds are already secured or how they plan to obtain funding.

  • Joint transnational research proposals can be funded for a period of up to three years.

Project proposals to be submitted from our country will be supported within the scope of TÜBİTAK 1071 Program.

For projects involving partners from Turkey, it is mandatory to apply to both the call secretariat and TUBITAK.

National project applications can only be made using electronic signature (e-signature) via the Project Application System (https://uidb-pbs.tubitak.gov.tr).

Before applying, national application rules must be examined in detail. If the application rules are not followed, the application may be returned without being evaluated.
