The European Cooperation in Science and Technology (COST) is one of the most inclusive networks supporting international collaboration among researchers across Europe (www.cost.eu). As a founding member of COST, Türkiye has once again demonstrated its strong presence on the platform with outstanding participation statistics for 2024.
According to the official statistics published by COST for the year 2024, Türkiye:
Received approximately EUR 2.82 million, making it the country with the highest amount of allocated funding among the 41 COST member states.
Achieved 100% participation in all ongoing COST Actions, reaching full participation for the first time and attaining the highest level of representation.
Became the country with the highest number of Working Group members, with 11,379 researchers involved in COST Actions.
Ranked 2nd among all countries in terms of participation in COST networking activities, with involvement in 676 separate activities.
Also ranked among the top 3 countries with 2,321 individual participations in COST Action meetings.
These results clearly reflect Türkiye’s strong, visible, and sustained position in the European research landscape. The country also continues to play an active role in decision-making processes, with a growing number of leadership positions in COST Actions.
In terms of participation quality, Türkiye presents an inclusive and balanced profile. According to the 2024 data, 54% of participating researchers from Türkiye were women, while 51% were early-career researchers.
With its strong and widespread engagement in COST, Türkiye continues to solidify its position as a reliable and leading partner in scientific collaboration and remains one of the key contributors shaping the European research ecosystem.
