Could you please indicate the support provided to the researcher and his/her research within the scope of the programs? What do these programs promise for supported scientists and researchers who wish to conduct research in Türkiye and contribute to Türkiye's advancement in technology and innovation?
In our calls, we provide opportunities for our researchers to realize their research objectives in our country and encourage them to work with our country's ecosystem and achieve new achievements. We offer a package of 10 different fellowships and support incentives to the researcher, the research project, the research team, and his/her family comprehensively. In this context, monthly scholarship for the coordinator during the support period, initial research grant that is given as a fixed sum at the beginning of the project, support for the research project with a duration of at least 24 and at most 36 months according to the content of the research project, scholarship expenses for five graduate students or post-doctoral researchers for strengthening research teams, project incentive bonus for researchers who will take part in the research project, and an institution share for the host institution or organization. In addition to the research project support, which varies from project to project and amounts to a maximum of 1.650.000 thousand Turkish Liras, the initial research grant is given as 4.700.000 Turkish Liras for experienced leading researchers and 2.350.000 Turkish Liras for young researchers. In addition, a family life expense scholarship and travel support for the arrival to Türkiye for the coordinator, spouse, and children, if any, and health insurance support are provided. As a new incentive, mentoring support is provided by our International Leading Researchers, who were previously supported in the previous calls. This incentive will also provide essential guidance for increasing the impact potential of our researchers within our ecosystem. Moreover, if the education period of the graduate students who are scholarship holders exceeds the project duration, our support continues.

If the host institution or organization is a foundation university or SME, 25% of the scholarship amount is expected to be covered, or 40% if it is a large-scale company. The upper limits of the budget for funding programmes carried out by ARDEB (the Directorate for Research Funding Programmes) that are listed in the table below have been increased.
The updated upper limits will be in force as of the first term of 2025 for the 1001 Programme, and will be in force for the applications made as of 11 November 2024 to the other funding programmes mentioned in the table below.
If additional funding is required for ongoing projects, a decision will be made accordingly upon the request of the Principal Investigator (PI) and based on the evaluation conducted by the Research Support Group.

TÜBİTAK Merkez ve Enstitülerinde yürütülen projeler ile TÜBİTAK tarafından desteklenen araştırma projelerinde veya Yükseköğretim Kurulu’nun araştırma üniversitelerine yönelik başlattığı Araştırma Üniversiteleri Destek Programı (ADEP) tarafından desteklenen araştırma projelerine bursiyer olarak dahil olacak lisans öğrencisi (STAR Lisans) ve öğretmenlerin (STAR Öğretmen) Ar-Ge kültürü kazanmaları, araştırma ekosistemine ilk adımı atmaları ve araştırma yapmaya teşvik edilmeleri amacıyla hazırlanan 2247-C Stajyer Araştırmacı Burs Programı (STAR) başvuruya açılıyor.
2024 yılı 2. dönem aşağıdaki çağrılar kapsamında lisans öğrencileri ile öğretmenlerden başvuru alınacaktır.

Within the scope of the bilateral cooperation call between TÜBİTAK and the Hungarian National Research, Development and Innovation Office (NRDIO), joint academic-industry projects conducted by scientists from both countries will be supported.
Joint academic-industry cooperation projects from below thematic areas will be supported within the framework of this call:
- Supporting preventive, curative, and care systems to maintain healthy living within the focus area for the following topic areas:
- Innovation in healthy living and disease prevention
- Improving the quality of life in old age
- Innovative diagnostic and curative interventions (drug discovery, immunology, development of medical devices and instruments)
- Supporting the green transition and the development of a circular economy within the focus area for the following topic areas:
- Agricultural innovation, water management, and effective protection against natural disasters
- Increasing energy efficiency, accelerating the transition to clean energy
- Sustainable and smart mobility
- Supporting the digital transition of the economy and society within the focus area for the following topic areas:
- Artificial intelligence, quantum technology
- Smart grids, autonomous systems
The Turkish project team that would like to propose a joint academic-industry cooperation project must collaborate as a "project partner" with the Hungarian project team that will jointly carry out the project. Unilateral project applications are not accepted.

Avrupa Araştırma Konseyi (European Research Council – ERC), öncül bilimsel araştırma projelerine sağladığı fonlarla bilimsel mükemmeliyeti desteklemeye devam ediyor. ERC’nin Ufuk Avrupa Programı kapsamında açtığı 2024 Consolidator Grant çağrısında, Türkiye’den iki araştırmacı toplam 3,6 milyon Avro bütçe ile desteklenmeye hak kazandı.
Bu başarı, Erciyes Üniversitesi’nden Prof. Dr. Mustafa Serdar Önses ve İzmir Biyotıp ve Genom Merkezi’nden Doç. Dr. Serhat Tozburun’un çığır açıcı projeleri ile geldi. ERC öncül araştırma projelerini yürütebilecek araştırmacıları Bilimsel Mükemmellik kriterlerine göre dünya çapında bir panel değerlendirmesi ile seçerek fonluyor.
İlk Kez İstanbul ve Ankara Dışındaki Kurumlardan Araştırmacılar Desteklendi
Bu çağrıyla birlikte ilk defa İstanbul ve Ankara dışındaki iki farklı şehirde yer alan ev sahibi kurumlardan sunulan proje ERC tarafından desteklenmeye hak kazandı. Bu önemli gelişme, Türkiye’de araştırma ekosisteminin bölgesel çeşitliliğini artırmaya yönelik çalışmalara ışık tutuyor.
Her iki araştırmacının proje önerisi, TÜBİTAK ERC Baş Araştırmacı Geliştirme Programı (EBAG) kapsamında başvuru sürecinde desteklendi. Bu program, uluslararası düzeyde rekabetçi araştırmalar yürütebilecek yetenekli bilim insanlarını teşvik etmeyi amaçlıyor.

Prof. Dr. Önses, 2014 yılında TÜBİTAK 2232 programı ile yurda dönmüş, TÜBA GEBİP ve TÜBİTAK Teşvik Ödülleri gibi prestijli ödüller almıştır.Prof. Dr. Mustafa Serdar ÖNSES, WETDNA Projesi ile karmaşık yüzey ıslatma özelliklerini kontrol etmek için genetik bilgi taşıyıcısı olan DNA'yı kullanarak yeni bir yaklaşım keşfetmeyi hedefliyor. DNA güdümlü ıslatma olaylarını yöneten ilkelerin anlaşılmasının, kodlanmış yüzeyler, akıllı kaplamalar, sahtecilik önleyicilik, giyilebilir sensörler ve tıbbi teşhis gibi bir dizi alan ve teknoloji için yüksek temel ve uygulama değeri olan fiziksel, kimyasal ve biyolojik bilimlerin arayüzünde bilgi üretmesi beklenmektedir.

Konu: Sindirim sistemi hastalıklarının erken tedavisi için yüzeysel doku lezyonlarını güvenli bir şekilde tedavi edebilen yeni nesil bir endoskop başlığı geliştirmek. Bu teknoloji, geniş alanların tek seferde görüntülenmesi ve tedavi edilmesine olanak tanıyor.

Doç. Dr. Tozburun, geçmişte MSCA programı ile fonlanmış ve TÜBA GEBİP BAGEP ibi prestijli ödüller almıştır.Sindirim sistemi organlarında birçok hastalık genellikle iç yüzeyde başlamaktadır; örneğin, yemek borusu, mide ve bağırsakla ilgili birçok kanser, anormal yüzeysel doku (prekanseröz mukozal lezyon) olarak başlar ve sonra daha derin doku yapılarına yayılmaktadır. Bu nedenle, anormal yüzeysel dokuların erken bir aşamada tedavi edilmesi kritik öneme sahiptir. Doç. Dr. Serhat TOZBURUN ve ekibinin geliştirdiği teknoloji, yüzeysel lezyonları sağlıklı dokulardan negatif basınçla ayıran, geri döndürülemez elektroporasyonla yakmadan yok eden, lezyonları görüntülemeye olanak tanıyan ve geniş alanların tek seferde tedavi edilmesini sağlayan yenilikçi bir endoskop başlığı sunmaktadır. Proje tamamlandığında, tarama ve tedaviye yönelik yeni nesil bir endoskopi başlığı geliştirilecek, klinik öncesi çalışmalarla prekanseröz lezyonların tedavisinde çığır açıcı önemli bir adım atılacak ve endoskopi alanında uzman insan kaynağı yetiştirilmesine katkı sağlanacaktır.
ERC Programı’ndaki Türkiye Başarıları
ERC programı, 2007 yılından bu yana Türkiye’de tamamlanan veya yürümekte olan toplamda 38 projeye destek sağladı. Türk bilim insanlarının rekabetin yoğun olduğu bu programda elde ettiği başarılar, Türkiye’nin bilimsel araştırmalar konusundaki yetkinliğini bir kez daha gözler önüne seriyor.
